The helicopter tour guide now speaks

The harbour scenic tour reads its captions aloud, in English or Cantonese, with the rotors ducking under the voice.

The Hong Kong harbour helicopter scenic tour now has a voice. The guide reads each caption aloud as it comes up, in English or Cantonese.

What is new

  • Each of the 12 tour captions is spoken when it appears, from "Welcome aboard" on the Peninsula roof to the landing.
  • The guide uses a British English voice, a woman's where your browser has one, so it does not sound like the pilots on the radio.
  • Switch the home screen to 粵 and the guide speaks Cantonese, if your device has a Hong Kong Cantonese voice. Without one, the Cantonese captions stay on screen, silent.
  • The rotor and turbine noise drops while the guide talks and comes back up after.
  • Three small bars on the left of the caption pulse while the guide is speaking.

How it behaves

  • The voice uses your browser's built-in speech, so how it sounds depends on your device.
  • The guide only speaks at normal time. Speed up time and the voice stops; the captions carry on.
  • Rewind into the middle of a caption and the guide stays quiet until the next one starts. Pause also pauses the voice.
  • The Sound button turns the guide off with the rest of the audio.

What did not change

  • The route, captions and timing are the same.
  • The autopilot still lands in every weather preset, and flying with no input still ends in a crash.

香港維港直升機觀光之旅而家有聲啦。每段字幕出現嘅時候，導賞員都會用英文或者廣東話讀出嚟。

新功能

  • 觀光之旅嘅 12 段字幕，由半島天台嘅「歡迎登機」到降落，每段出現時都會讀出。
  • 英文導賞用英式英語聲音，瀏覽器有女聲就用女聲，所以唔會同無線電入面嘅機師混淆。
  • 喺主畫面轉做 粵，如果你部機有香港廣東話聲音，導賞員就會講廣東話。冇嘅話，廣東話字幕照樣顯示，不過冇聲。
  • 導賞員講嘢嗰陣，旋翼同渦輪聲會降低，講完再回復。
  • 導賞員講緊嘢嘅時候，字幕左邊會有三條小直線閃動。

運作方式

  • 聲音用瀏覽器內置嘅語音功能，所以聽落點樣要睇你部機。
  • 導賞員只係喺正常時間速度先會講。加快時間，聲音會停，字幕照出。
  • 倒帶到一段字幕中間，導賞員會等到下一段先再講。暫停亦會暫停聲音。
  • Sound 掣會連同其他聲音一齊關咗導賞員。

冇改變嘅地方

  • 航線、字幕同時間都一樣。
  • 自動駕駛喺所有天氣預設下都照樣降落，完全唔操作照樣會墜毀。
